In the city of Tampa and the unincorporated area of Hillsborough County, a permit is required for all residential and commercial construction activities, including demolition.
What steps will I need to follow in order to receive a permit for demolition?
In order to obtain a demolition permit in Hillsborough County, the following steps must be completed:
- At the time your application is filed, submit a letter from Tampa Electric stating that all utilities have been (or will be) shut off.
- Schedule a site inspection with Verizon prior to your application being signed.
- The city Health Department and Hillsborough County Water Resource Services (WRS) must sign your application prior to it being submitted.
- If your property or structure is connected to a septic system, you will need to obtain an abandonment permit.
- For all commercial properties and structures, an Environmental Protection Commission Asbestos Project Information Form must also be submitted at the time your application is.
