The Demolition Process

If you're having a structure demolished, like a home or a commercial structure, these are the basic aspects of the demolition process you should be familiar with.

Step 1: Have the building inspected.

Step 2: Gather the necessary permits. (Your contractor will likely handle this, so confirm this with them.)

Step 3: Disconnect existing services and utilities.

Step 4: Tear down the house using heavy machinery or deconstruction methods.

Step 5: Haul away the debris to the nearest landfill or recycling facility.

Project: Demolish a Detached Garage or Outbuilding
Location: Salem, OR 97301
Description:
I received a quote from you I believe around April 2017 to remove this garage. I have some personal material inside that I wanted to remove prior to demolition. I am getting closer to that - probably within two weeks or so. I would like to know if you have time in about three weeks from now. Also, can you tell me what can and can not be included in what can be hauled away with the structural debris. The plan is that the cyclone fencing currently there needs to be removed which may help you with the work. You can have use of the back yard if work can be done without too much tearing up of the yard. Maybe for the dumpster(s)?

Project: Demolish a Detached Garage or Outbuilding
Location: Salem, OR 97301
Description:
I have a 1913 wooden single-car garage unfinished inside. It has swing wooden doors that no longer open. the roof is layers of composition. The paint is not lead-based. I have some things that I will remove from the inside but I would like to know what materials that I can leave for you to take away and what you can't take. Most of the inside stuff is lumber and other building materials. The firewood has been moved away from the building. The cyclone fence can be removed but I would like temporary fence panels erected further in the back yard for security purposes. The structure is next to an alley but is viewable on Google Earth. The image appears to be one year old with a tarp on the roof but it is no longer there.
