Hack Excavating was started in 1969 by Joseph Hack when he purchased one of the first Bobcat loaders in Lafayette, Indiana. Few people had seen or even knew what could be done with Bobcat loaders. Joseph had been farming and operating a dairy business until the family farm was sold. He worked on construction projects operating heavy equipment, and at the age of 57, decided to venture out with his own excavating business.Hack Excavating was incorporated in 1996 and has continued to grow with additional employees, equipment, and service.
